Today at church, we announced a refinement to our vision statement for the church.  Not a new theme, but more of a focussed message to keep us moving forward with what God has called us to.

Matt 28:19-20 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

At the peak of their writing careers, J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were a part of a “Masterminds” literary group at Oxford University to bounce off ideas and strengthen each other’s work. The group is famously called the Inklings.

Baptism in Water - June 18th

Water baptism is largely symbolic.  When Jesus was asked how to get saved, he answered that we are to believe in Him, and then immediately following to be baptized as a sign of this new faith, and as a public declaration.  There are a few other things we see in scriptures that take this thought a bit deeper.
